Police are searching for a Southern California man who allegedly attacked his wife with a chainsaw in front of their children then fled on Wednesday.
Officers responded to reports of a domestic violence incident at the couple’s home in the 7700 block of Milton Avenue in Whittier around 3 p.m. and found the woman suffering from traumatic injuries, according to the Whittier Police Department.
Neighbors said the victim ran out of her home, screaming for help.
“I heard people screaming,” Enrique Avila said. “A lady said, ‘Leave me alone or I’m gonna call the cops.’ And then after that, I heard little kids inside the house.”
Fernando Jauregui, another neighbor, said he saw the victim with cuts on face and neck, and losing a lot of blood.
She was taken to a trauma center in critical condition, officers said.
The woman’s husband, identified by police as 32-year-old Alejandro Alvarez, allegedly drove away from the scene in his SUV. But he soon crashed that vehicle, then stole a car that was left running in Mayberry Park, officials said.
Police described Alvarez as 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last spotted wearing dark jeans and a brown Hurley t-shirt, the police department said.
Officers recovered a chainsaw, but the agency said Alvarez should be considered armed and dangerous and urged anyone who sees him to avoid contact and call 911.
Authorities provided no details about a possible motive.

Chingao, ese! La policia didn’t release a possible motive, pero I bet I know what made this vato so angry. His espousa has uno trabajo: cook, clean and take care of the hijos. Eso es. No mas! Well, and sex on demand, but that’s a given.
I bet this hard-working hombre came home from work and his ruka either burned the frijoles, or el pinche casa wasn’t cleaned.
En Mexico, if la senorita burns the pinche frijoles, or doesn’t clean the pinche casa, the hombre can attack his ruka with whatever tools he was using on the job that day.
This vato must have been cutting down trees for lazy white people, ese. And that’s why he used a chainsaw to cut her face up. Because that was the tool of the day he used to perform the hard work that gringos won’t do.
Honestly, it was probably just bad luck for her. Cause if he had been picking berries, he would have only been able to hit her with his berry bag. Or punch her with his work gloves on.
Or if he had been cleaning toilets, then he would have only been able to beat her with the plunger. Eso es! No nail guns, chainsaws or sledgehammers, holmes.
That’s the Mexican rules, ese. If your puta doesn’t do her job properly, then the hombre gets to use his work tool of the day on her. In this case, is just happened to be a chainsaw.
Poor, senora. She’s probably thinking to herself, “por que wasn’t Alejandro mowing yards today? Then I would have got attacked with the weedwacker and not the chainsaw.”
But at least the young hijos got to learn a vibrant lesson about Mexican culture. In America, hombres don’t get to beat their mujeres. That’s why the pinches gringas are out of control, ese. And treat their men like mierda. Estupido gringos!
Pero not in Mexico. The Mexican women respect their hombres. Or they get beat with work tools.
